About the role
We are entering an exciting period of change within the Facilities, Fleet & Depot Stores department, as we continue to develop to meet the strategic and operational needs of our growing municipality. This transformation is about people, purpose, and progress, and we are recruiting a diverse range of roles to the department—building a team that is passionate about service excellence, operational uplift, and meaningful change.

We’re looking for individuals who are not only skilled in their field, but who thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated by the opportunity to make a real and positive impact.

We’re seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Assets Technical Officer to provide technical support and asset intelligence across Council’s diverse facilities portfolio. This role ensures the efficient and effective maintenance, renewal, and upgrade of building assets through extensive asset selection and utilisation knowledge, high-quality data analysis, condition assessments, and asset lifecycle planning.

Working within the Building Maintenance Support Unit in the Facilities, Fleet & Depot Stores Department of the City Operations Directorate, you’ll partner with stakeholders to collect, analyse, and interpret facility data to improve strategic planning and asset performance. Your expertise will inform sustainable, fit-for-purpose maintenance and renewal programs that support Council’s long-term financial sustainability and service delivery to the community.

This position may require occasional and after-hours work, as well as travel across the municipality.

What your day will look like

  • Review and analyse facility asset data to identify trends in maintenance activities, asset failures, and lifecycle performance

  • Engage with stakeholders in Maintenance, Contracts Management, and Procurement to determine and guide asset procurement, and data management

  • Provide technical input into maintenance schedules, project scoping, and renewal planning

  • Support planning and coordination of facility audits, including data validation and system updates

  • Deliver technical advice on building elements, materials, finishes, and systems to ensure compliance and longevity

  • Contribute to asset renewal proposals and capital project planning with accurate technical data and informed advice

  • Support risk assessments and compliance reporting for facilities

  • Integrate asset data into long-term asset management plans and strategies

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Asset Management, Facilities Management, Building Services, Construction, or a related discipline

  • Experience in facilities, maintenance, or asset management environments

  • Strong understanding of building systems, asset lifecycle principles, and maintenance practices

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, plans, and regulatory standards relevant to facility asset management

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and asset management systems

  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
